Community Focus is a locally-based, thirty-minute program targeting African-Americans in the Dayton area. Each week a specific guest, issue, or topic is featured, as well as events and organizations of vital importance to the Urban Community. Radio One's "Community Focus" is a positive force on Dayton radio with a goal educating, informing and uplifting our audience each week. Topics vary from health care issues to domestic violence to schools to parenthood. Guests include chief executive officers of corporations, school superintendents, physicians and other community leaders. Through Radio One "Community Focus", your voice can be heard. Valerie Elijah joined the Radio One/Dayton staff as Community Relations Director in June of 2004. She brings with her a wealth of experience in broadcasting and communications. While attending the University of Dayton, she was an announcer at WVUD Radio. After graduating, she went on to Channel 2 as Assistant Community Services Director where she created and hosted a thirty-minute television program called Dialogue. At Channel 22, she produced and hosted Dayton Today, a local public affairs program. At WROU Radio, she produced and hosted Focus on U for seven years.
